Time for another update to the progress of Alternate Voices, the DI Frank Lyle fan fiction anthology I am putting together to to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
There is still plenty of time for you to enter as the submission deadline is July 1st 2015.
You can find out everything you need to know about the requirements for your story here
You can read the latest on the Alternate Voices Official Facebook Page
You can join in with the Alternate Voices Anthology Facebook event
I chat to my good friend Tricia Drammeh about Alternate Voices on Authors to Watch. Tricia has also contributed a story to the anthology.
As it stands, I now have five stories for the anthology including my own contribution Sudden Impact. At present the content lists runs as follows
Sudden Impact by Juliet B Madison
A Change of Heart by Tricia Drammeh
Simple Twist of Fate by Gerry McCullough
Family by Katrina Bowlin-MacKenzie
Angels & Demons by Caroline Lee
I’m well aware that people may feel intimidated being asked to write about someone else’s characters. People write countless fan fiction stories about TV shows and movies and the characters they know and love, but those stories rarely reach the attention of the official copyright holders. I have written a few pieces of TV related fan fiction myself using the pseudonym Lady Kiddymonster
This weekend there will be a blog post published by my friend A F E Smith about Alternate Voices. However this post will feature comments by the above named contributors and short excerpts from their stories. It is my hope that this post will encourage other people to have a go. I will update this post when the piece goes live.
I have been disappointed that some people I call friends have not been anywhere near the anthology or even posted messages of support even if they are too busy to actually contribute. Whatever time of year I chose to run this competition would be inconvenient for some people, but at least I have the sense not to run it during National Novel Writing Month.
If you tweet about the anthology PLEASE USE the hash tag #Alternate Voices
Macmillan Cancer Support are aware of the project and will retweet any tweets featuring the hash tag and when you think how many Twitter followers they probably have this will reach a far wider audience than I could hope for in a million years.
I have been very impressed with what people have done with my characters so far.
I am hoping that someone will write a story featuring DI Andrew Redfern, who has not yet appeared in any of the stories. Your story DOES NOT have to be a crime one, you can write in any genre as long as you use DI Frank Lyle Mystery Series characters.
Finally, please tweet, share and comment on this post.
