Well, things are going quite well so far with regard to the proposed DI Frank Lyle fan fiction anthology I’m putting together.
It’s more than an idea now; it’s starting to take shape. Aside from my own contribution, Sudden Impact, I have received stories, which all do tremendous justice to my characters.
The anthology now has a name Alternate Voices and a cover.
Alternate Voices is a name which reflects not only the fact that different authors are writing here, but it also conveys the multiple first person POV of the Di Frank Lyle Series.
Alternate Voices now has a Twitter hashtag #AlternateVoices. Please use this when tweeting about the anthology.
You can also visit the Alternate Voices Official Facebook Page and join in with the Alternate Voices Facebook event which runs until 30th June, the day before the story submission deadline.
If you need reminding of the story submission criteria then please visit my website
I am trying to get publicity on other author blogs and websites. So far I have written a short piece for two. You can read my posts

Alternate Voices will be featured on the Rukia Publishing newsletter tomorrow followed by another guest post on their blog. I will be updating the Ashbeck Courier news in brief section of my website with links to those.
I have decided that the book will be officially released on 23rd September 2015, the 7th anniversary of my partner, David’s death. That is always a bad week for me so hopefully by having something positive to focus on I will find it easier. The book will also be dedicated to David’s memory.
You still have plenty of time to write & submit your stories. So far I have received A Change of Heart by Tricia Drammeh, Family by Katrina Bowlin-MacKenzie and Angels & Demons by Caroline Lee and I’m waiting for Gerry McCullough to complete hers whilst trying to persuade other authors to sign up. After all there are few people in the world today who have not been affected by cancer, whether directly or indirectly, and raising funds so that Macmillan Cancer Support can continue their excellent work is important to me. While I’m having a great time seeing what other people do with my characters I thought I would leave you with a short excerpt from Sudden Impact, my own contribution to Alternate Voices.
Note: Kiddie fiddler is prison slang for a paedophile.
Thomas followed James into the visiting room. It was austere. The metal chairs were bolted to the floor. They were directed to a table with two visitor’s chairs. James took out the cigarettes he’d brought. Jez used them as currency to exchange for stamps and phone cards, he didn’t actually smoke himself. Thomas smoked occasionally.
Thomas saw a man in his early forties making his way towards them. The fact he looked like Jim Morrison hadn’t been exaggerated. Jez sat down.
“Alright kid?” he said to James.
“Fine thanks Jez, this is Thomas.”
Jez offered his hand and Thomas shook it.
“So you’re the man who has stolen my kid brother’s heart?”
“Guilty as charged,” Thomas smiled.
“I’m glad to meet you. Nothing ever happens here apart from the odd sex offender being beat up in the showers.” Some minutes later the prisoners filed in and took their seats across from their visitors.
“Have you ever been?” Thomas asked.
“No, because the sexual part of my offences were against adult women. I did get beat up during my first week here because I was related to a cop by marriage, but they leave me alone these days. It’s the kiddie fiddlers get the worst of it and they deserve it, filthy perverts.”
“I’ve had professional dealings with one or two,” Thomas said “It makes your skin crawl when you think about what turns them on.”
“I can well believe that,” Jez said.” Some of the guys in here put the wind up me and their offences weren’t sexual.”
